Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. - LaunchGood.com/SaveHooyo
It is with the heaviest heart that I share the news I was praying I'd never have to write—
My beloved mother has returned to her Lord.
Just hours before her passing, my twin sister landed in Nairobi and rushed to her side. By the mercy of Allah, she was able to be with our mother in her final moments. SubhanAllah, she held her hand, and our mother was able to utter the Shahada—the sacred testimony of faith—before taking her last breath.
She passed away in the most blessed time of the year—in the month of Ramadan, a time when the gates of Hell are closed, the gates of Jannah are open, and Allah’s mercy pours down upon us.
And in our tradition, one who dies due to lung disease is, inshaAllah, counted among the martyrs.
I don’t have words to describe this pain.
I am still trying to process it.
I’m still trying to get a flight to say goodbye.
This journey started as a desperate plea to save my mother’s life. And because of your generosity, your shares, and your du’as—we were able to raise enough to try everything possible. I’m endlessly grateful for that.
Now, with this unexpected heartbreak, we must change course.
All donations we've raised and those going forward will support her janazah, any medical outstanding costs, and help her children during this time of grief, and go toward sadaqah in her name. Every contribution—every du’a, every kind word—will carry weight with Allah and bring light to her grave.
Please continue to share.
Please leave a du’a in the comments. Your words will be a source of comfort as we try to pick up the pieces.
May Allah accept her as a shaheedah.
May He make her grave a garden from the gardens of Paradise.
And may He reunite us in Jannatul Firdaus.
Ameen.

Thank you again. Let’s bring my mom home.
— Jibril
Hi, my name is Jibril Mohamed and I’m a senior at Wittenberg University in Ohio. I’m reaching out during the most difficult time in my life to ask for your help.
My mother a U.S. citizen is currently in critical condition in the ICU in Nairobi, Kenya, after traveling there to visit family. She was diagnosed with severe pneumonia, which caused fluid to build up in her lungs, and doctors have now discovered a serious heart valve issue. She is currently on a breathing machine, and her condition is extremely fragile.
I am doing everything I can to help her, but I’m just a college student with no financial support. I’ve already paid thousands of dollars toward her hospital care, and now we’re facing a new, urgent challenge: getting her home to the United States, where she can receive the proper medical attention covered by her Medicaid insurance and where I can be by her side.
I’ve spoken with a medical evacuation company, and the cost to fly her back to the U.S. with the necessary life support and medical team is $50,000. This doesn’t include her hospital bills it’s just the cost to bring her home safely.
I’m asking from the bottom of my heart:
If you can donate even $1, please help.
If you’re not able to give right now, I completely understand but please consider sharing this page with others who might be able to.
Time is critical, and I can’t do this alone. My mom is stranded far from home, fighting for her life. I want nothing more than to bring her back to the U.S., where she can receive the care she needs and deserves.
Thank you for reading, thank you for caring, and thank you for standing with us during this incredibly painful time.
Jibril Mohamed
Thank you.
