On July 26th a Facebook post was made at 6 am stating there was 6 domestic rabbits dumped off of Grumman blvd in Calverton at prestons pond, not too longer later another post was made that two more were found dumped approximately 2.5 miles east at another fishing access site.

four hours went by from the time I saw the post and no one was able to get boxes to try and catch them. I ended up going with my 5 year old daughter and managed to catch two. Two more I spotted and I was able to get help from a wonderful woman Ashley, and her husband. He helped me get the last 2 we saw safely back to my home where I had food and water for them.

SPCA and News12 were contacted. It has been aired on News12 already.

SPCA met me at the location at 3pm today to help me, I had then met Eddie who is a rescue whom also came to help. After looking we couldn’t find anymore. I received a message to call Eddie a while later that someone tipped him they saw 2 bunnies at the other location 2.5 miles east. I met Eddie and both were safely caught.

I have several people that came to help tonight take care of 6 rabbits that were dumped. They were definitely from a breeder. We confirmed two males, four females. There are 2 currently still missing.

Some of these rabbits are in horrible condition. Extreme matting, mites, fleas, and ticks.

one male is emaciated, has infections and tons of wounds. He needs medical care ASAP.

this go fund me is to help with the unexpected costs for veterinary care for these 6 rabbits as well as costs to have them spayed and neutered.

1 is a lop, a few others are lionhead lops, and last confirmed American fuzzy lops (designer breed)

I currently have amazing help from several women taking care of some for me as I physically couldn’t separate them all. They will be put up for adoption as well once they’re healthy enough.
