Hi,
While at the Peace March in D.C. three days ago, I encountered a very kind young man who found a stray dog in the snow in Van Ness two days prior. She was found emaciated, with raw paw wounds, and a shoelace as a collar.
I offered to help her since she is very sweet and clearly in need of immediate help. My amazing neighbors provided her a little sweater, a dog bed, pee pads, and a small fence that we are using as a crate in the living room.
Yesterday, I brought her to GoodVets on K Street in D.C. (they are amazing!!). While at the vet, she received vaccines and meds for her paws. She also got blood work done. She is not chipped and not spayed. The vet believes her to be approximately 9 months to 1.5 years old.
She walks beautifully on a leash, right next to you. We are house training her, and she is quickly learning.
I put out a posting on Nextdoor to find the owner, but no one has come forward. I also did an AI photo search, but nothing came up.
I am temporarily providing a warm place for her to sleep and food, just to get her weight back up and get her off the street.
This GoFundMe is to cover her urgent medical care. The vet bill yesterday was $706.00. If you would like to help, that would be very welcome.
We are looking for a foster or forever home for her. She is extremely good with other dogs and cats. She is quiet and has been sleeping a lot.
We cannot keep her.
In the event we cannot find a foster or home, we will need to bring her to a shelter. I am really trying my best to avoid that worst-case scenario. Please help us find her a loving home.
