Hi everyone my name is Taty (Kelly) Hernandez and I’m writing this message on behalf of my sister and brother-in-law’s family on the pacific island of Yap.


Theodore Pong is one of the elders of the village in Yap. He’s currently bed ridden in critical condition. He has 2 bones dislocated on his spine that require immediate treatment. However, due to lack of health care accessibility he does not have insurance, nor is he  able to get treatment in Yap. He has to be flown out of the island to get treatment. The closest equipped hospital is 524 miles away in the neighboring island of Guam.


He currently has a referral request to enter a hospital either in Guam or in the Philippines (1,132 miles away), whichever responds to him first.


There is only *one* airline that flies to and from Yap and now due to coronavirus, there is a shortage of planes. He will not be able to fly out until mid June.

Theodore Pong is the father of 6 children, a respected elder, and a role model to many. The youngest of his children just graduated middle school and lives with him and his family on the island. He has a family who loves him dearly and he will continue to fight to get better.
