Urgent Medical care for Ellie

Hello,

My name is Parvathy Mira. I'm requesting your support for the medical bills of our 10 year old Bouvier, Ellie.

Ellie came to us this August after the tragic and unexpected passing of her owner which left Ellie and her 9 month old sister Caragh looking for another home. Her dog walker wasn’t able to keep both pups and the owner's children didn’t want anything to do with the dogs and thought it was best to just put Ellie down.

We took Ellie into our family and she adopted us as her pack pretty easily.

She wasn't very well cared for, when she came to us. Her previous mom was in a wheelchair for the last 4 years and never left the house which meant Ellie didn’t leave the house, aside from her few short walks for potty. When Ellie first came to us, she was an “old dog” - slow without a whole lot of energy and had bad breathe and tummy trouble. But as she got some good food, proper exercise, outdoor time and play she was starting to get a pep in her step..

She's a spunky girl with a LOT of life in her, a massive change from when we first adopted her. She loves her walks, sniffing at everything and playing with her new brother and getting to still see her sister. She's a little rough around the edges and unsure of strangers but once you get to know her, she's the most loving puppy!

Out of the blue, in October, Ellie developed a very bad limp, constantly holding her paw up. We thought that she may have stepped on something and had a broken toe. We went to her regular vet who sent us home saying it might be just a sprain. When her pain didn't get any better, we took her back again and this time they found a wound on her toe that looked infected and put her on antibiotics. Ellie was on 2 weeks of antibiotics when we had to take her to WAVES for an emergency visit because she was in too much pain and was bleeding. They sent us back with another month of antibiotics.
Ellie wasn't getting any better even after the month long course of antibiotics and her foot just got worse. We had another couple of vet visits. They took blood work, Xrays and cultures and found the presence of antibiotic resistant bacteria and put her on another set of medications.

By this point, we had already spend $3000 in vet bills and meds. Today we had to take Ellie back to the vet because her wound was continuing to bleed constantly needing dressing changes 4 times a day. Seeing that her new meds are not working, the vet recommended amputation of her infected toe. The estimated costs for that with pre op Xrays is $4500. Expenses for post op medications and care still to follow..

We are at the end of our line, as we cannot handle these large unexpected expenses in such a short time. We are doing our very best to take care of her and keep her comfortable.

I'm creating this campaign in hopes that we can continue her treatment and give her the best life she can have! She's a senior dog on paper, but if you meet her she'll tell you that she has the will to live and thrive!

Please donate what you are able, we promise to do everything in our power to get her better!
