Several days ago, my wife was preparing with excitement to finally come to the United States, so we could begin our new life together after years of waiting and planning. We were on the phone joyfully discussing the details of her upcoming trip when, suddenly, everything changed—she stopped chatting and urgently told me that her right eye had gone black; she had lost her eyesight without warning.

We acted quickly to get her to the emergency room in the Philippines, where she has remained hospitalized ever since. This crisis has turned our hopes for a joyful reunion into a time of great uncertainty and stress, both emotionally and financially.

Her insurance is minimal and will only cover 80% of the medical costs, leaving 20% as my responsibility. Unfortunately, the bills are quickly mounting, and I am responsible for everything that government assistance and insurance do not pay. This amount is an overwhelming burden for us, on top of our existing immigration and relocation expenses.
