Help Us Support Beth During Her Liver Transplant Recovery
Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing to you today with a heavy heart but also with hope. On June 16, 2024, our beloved Beth was diagnosed with liver failure at Temple University Hospital. The news was devastating for our family, and I rushed to be by her side. For a week, I stayed with her, anxiously waiting for her condition to stabilize. Thankfully, the doctors were able to bring her to a point where she was no longer in immediate danger.
Despite their best efforts, Beth's liver stopped responding to treatment. The doctors informed us that she would need a liver transplant within a month, or she faced the very real possibility of not surviving. In light of this urgency, she was emergency-transferred to the University of Michigan Hospital on July 15, 2024, where they had the resources and expertise to perform the life-saving surgery.
Upon arrival, she underwent a rigorous week of testing and was placed on the liver donor list on July 23, 2024. Miraculously, just three days later, on July 26, 2024, Beth received her liver transplant. The surgery was successful, and we are incredibly grateful for the skilled medical team that made this possible.
However, the journey is far from over. Beth is now in a city far from home and will need to remain there for several months during her recovery. During this time, the contract for her apartment in Philadelphia ends and her belongs will need to be stored. She will need a place to live close to U of M hospital, reliable transportation to and from her numerous doctor's appointments, and financial assistance to help cover pre- and post-operative medical bills as well as the costs associated with her emergency transfer to the University of Michigan.
We are reaching out to you, our community, to ask for your support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Beth's recovery and help alleviate the financial burden on our family during this challenging time.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. Together, we can help Beth get through this and come out stronger on the other side.
With gratitude,
Jay Adams and Family
