Dear friends and people of goodwill,
On May 3rd, Old Fangak hospital, the only medical facility in Fangak county, South Sudan that serves more than 110,000 people was bombed, destroying the pharmacy and wiping out medical supplies. Among the casualties include a 9-month old baby. Old Fangak hospital is run by the Medecins san Frontieres (MSF), an International medical charity.
The Upper Nile Institute of Public Health , a nonprofit is fundraising to send basic, lifesaving medical supplies to Fangak county to support the affected communities amidst humanitarian funding cuts to South Sudan. So, we are reaching out to friends and people of goodwill to stretch a hand. Any contribution no matter small counts and saves lives.
Old Fangak is a civilian centre in Fangak county, Jonglei state that hosts returnees from the ongoing war in Sudan and population displaced by the recent floods in South Sudan's Upper Nile region. We are afraid that the worst is yet to come as such attacks on civilians are on the rise in the Upper Nile region and in most parts of South Sudan.
