Hello everyone. My name is Ashley, and I’m Gabriel’s sister. I’m creating this fundraiser to help support him with medical expenses and out-of-state treatment for Cushing’s syndrome, a rare condition that has significantly impacted his health.

He has been diagnosed with Cushing’s syndrome, which has affected nearly every part of his health. Over time, it has led to diabetes, heart failure, nerve damage in his feet, and severe physical decline. He now uses a wheelchair, requires oxygen, and spends much of his time going back and forth to the hospital.

The idea of being a burden weighs heavily on him, and because of that, he struggles to seek help for himself when he needs it most.

As his condition worsened, he lost his ability to work. Many of the medical expenses he faces are not covered by Medicaid—especially the specialized care required to treat a rare condition like Cushing’s syndrome.

There are no doctors in our state who specialize in treating this disease, which means his care needs to happen out of state. His doctors believe this treatment is important and time-sensitive, but the cost of the procedure, medications, travel, and temporary housing is far beyond what he can manage on his own.

Emotionally, this has taken a toll. The constant hospital visits, physical limitations, and financial stress have led to depression, and stress is especially dangerous for his heart. At times, it feels like he’s losing hope, and as his family, it’s incredibly hard to watch someone you love struggle so deeply without knowing where to turn next.

Through all of this, his children remain his biggest motivation. They see the changes in their dad, and like any kids would be, they’re scared. He continues to focus on them, even while managing pain, exhaustion, and uncertainty.

As a family, we are doing everything we can. This fundraiser isn’t about excess—it’s about covering the basics needed for treatment and recovery. Our goal is to raise $8,000–$10,000 to help with:

• A necessary medical procedure not covered by insurance

• Specialized medications

• Travel and temporary housing for out-of-state care

• Basic expenses during recovery while he is unable to work
