My name is Candace, and I am urgently raising funds for legal fees to protect my 10-year-old daughter.

Without sharing too many painful details, I have been fighting for years to keep her safe after her father’s neglect placed her in harm’s way, harm that resulted in her being abused. The Virginia JD Court in Chesterfield County recognized the danger and reduced his visitation to supervised daytime visits. Eventually, due to his continued lack of involvement, his time was reduced to just 7 hours every other Saturday.

I later moved to Roanoke, VA for a job and a better life for my children, but after losing that job, everything spiraled. Her father filed in the new jurisdiction, and despite the evidence I presented his history of arrests, instability, lack of appropriate housing, and continued contact with the person who abused my daughter,

the new judge ruled that he is “fit” for legal custody and overnight visits. The new GAL assigned to us has offered little to no support. I've been ignored, disrespected and disregarded several times by this legal system. This decision has undone years of work, years of fighting, and years of trying to give my daughter the safety and stability she deserves.

I absolutely hate asking for help, but this is my child. I need financial assistance to obtain an attorney and other legal fees. I am doing everything in my power to protect her, and I cannot do this alone. If you feel led to donate or share, it would mean more than I can ever express.
