Urgent Legal Aid for Widow's Rights

My dear husband, Creed England, passed away in April, unexpectedly, leaving me without income or transportation.

While I have copies of our marriage certificate, the funeral home will not let me hand it to them; they insist a lawyer has to. Without them acknowledging our marriage as legal, the death certificate is inaccurate, and I cannot apply to be the personal representative until that is corrected. That cost should fall on the funeral home, but I do need an attorney to start the process.

The funeral home also sent my husband's cremains to an estranged relative, and I need to get them back. I applied for the Modest Means program and was approved, but there are no attorneys in my area that participate. I have spoken to far too many lawyers, and it looks like I will need a retainer of at least $2500, so that is what I am seeking help for. Any little bit will help me reach my goal.
