Help Juanita Rhodd Retain Legal Support

Dear friends, family, and extended community,

We’re reaching out with urgency and heavy hearts to support someone who has spent her life supporting others: Juanita, a beloved elder, certified special education counselor and certified psychometrist, as well as a pillar of our community.

Juanita has recently and unexpectedly been named as a co-defendant in a felony case involving her youngest son, Jeremiah. Jeremiah is currently facing legal challenges related to the custody of his children and ongoing struggles with the family court system, which has failed to offer a safe, stable path for him to remain in his children’s lives.

While we cannot share all the details, we want to be clear: Juanita's only involvement was a heartfelt message she sent to her grandchildren’s mother—a gesture met with retaliation, and Juanita was shockingly included in the legal charges.

Now, at nearly 77 years old—with no prior legal issues and a lifetime of service—Juanita is facing the terrifying possibility of incarceration. If this charge proceeds, she stands to lose her ability to be of service to children on the reservation.

We urgently need to raise funds to help Juanita retain legal representation. It is critical that she have an attorney present when she turns herself in to the sheriff’s department to avoid being taken into custody. Time is of the essence.

Juanita has given so much—through her work, her wisdom, and her deep commitment to healing. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
