EN:
Adrian lives locally with his family in the Twin Cities. He came to the United States when he was a school-aged child. On February 19, 2026, he was taken into ICE detention, where he suffered from a psychiatric emergency and needed care. He was brought to Fairview Southdale Emergency Department to be treated for his medical condition.
While waiting for an inpatient bed in the emergency department, ICE officers elected to remove Adrian from the hospital on February 26, 2026, prior to adequate stabilization of his condition and without a safe discharge plan. The following day, he was transported to Texas, far away from his family, his legal counsel, and the caregivers providing his psychiatric care.
In his current state, it is unlikely that he even knows or understands that he is in ICE custody. His family worries that he is not receiving adequate psychiatric care in ICE detention. If he is deported to Mexico, they worry that he will not be able to navigate the country he left as a child in his current vulnerable mental state. Knowing his condition well, his family believes he will be unable to call them for help. We are raising money for emergent legal aid to bring Adrian home to his family and the community that can best meet his medical needs.
A message from Adrian’s mother:
From the bottom of my heart I would appreciate your support. I am a single mother and the backbone of my family. Every single one of my children and all of the mothers out there who live this sadness and pain, we hope first God hears us that family separations will end soon. God bless everyone and take care of yourselves.
