Three years ago, Esperanza was involved in a devastating accident that claimed the life of her husband and left her with a severely damaged knee, confining her to a wheelchair. Imagine the unimaginable grief compounded by the relentless struggle to provide for her three children – a teenager, a 12-year-old, and an 8-year-old. Despite her physical limitations, Esperanza displays an unwavering strength. She prepares food, which her children then sell to make ends meet. Their daily survival is a constant, heartbreaking battle.

A few weeks ago, Esperanza was finally scheduled for the knee replacement surgery that would transform her life and allow her to regain her independence. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the surgery was cancelled, and the cost has now doubled. The new, higher price is beyond what Esperanza and her children can ever afford.
