Urgent: Kidney Donor Needed for a Young Man

Hi there, I’m trying to get help finding my son a kidney donor—A, B, or O kidney donor for my son. He’s been sick since he was 2 years old with nephrotic syndrome. Then, when he turned 18, he started dialysis. When he turned 21, he tried to hang out with his friends, but it was hard for him to enjoy his life. Now he is 22, in and out of hospitals. He got a call from UCSF about a kidney. He’s been going to his dialysis 3 days a week and goes extra days so he wouldn’t get sick. He has shortness of breath, sometimes throws up blood, barely eats, and can’t even go on family trips like Hawaii. We went to Vegas for Xmas, and he had to get his dialysis there, or he would get sick. So, I stay home with him and wish that he wasn’t sick.

Well, anyways, about UCSF—they called him on the 9th of August and told him now he has to wait 3 years for a kidney. He was so down and told me, "Mom, I’m going to die. I’m not going to make it that long." I wish they could find him a kidney so he can enjoy his life. He hasn’t enjoyed his life as a teenager or now as an adult. He’s scared. I told him to just have faith and pray, so we pray.

I lost my job caring for his needs when he would be in the hospital and for me leaving early because they couldn’t get a response from him. So, I told my boss I had to go, and then I got suspended. The hospital called me again at work and told me I had to go to the hospital, and I couldn’t, but I had to in case that was going to be his time. He was in bad shape; I couldn’t understand him. Then my mother-in-law called; she was out of town on a retreat with her church and said they were going to pray for him. The next day, he was like normal, thank God.

So now he’s asked for this wish: if anyone out there would donate a kidney—A, B, or O blood type—please give him a kidney. I don’t want to lose him so young. I hope someone hears and helps us. I’m all he has besides my family. He only counts on me. He’s even going to Delta College if he’s not sick. He wants a chance to live normally.

And now, since I’m not working, I’ve been focusing on him even though I found out I have a bad hip and can barely walk. I’m just waiting to have surgery so I can be there for my children. So please, anyone out there, please hear my prayer and his.
