UPDATES ON JASON'S CONDITION:

Thanks to the generous support of 61 donors & the "respite care" granted to his father by Hospice Maui, Jason raised the $$ to go to the Angel Farms residential detox program last month...to prepare for ongoing medical tests and treatments...to make great steps toward the recovery of his health.

As a result of the Angel Farms residential program, Jason is now mobile once again and has been able to return home to care for himself and his 83 year old bedridden father. JASON NEEDS MEDICAL HYPNOSIS TO QUIT SMOKING NOW

From the beginning of this fundraiser, we said that, after Angel Farms, we would continue on to raise the $$ to pay for a Medical Hypnosis Smoking Cessation program on Maui that has a 90%+ documented success rate.

Jason has made so much progress in all areas but, yes - most say that quitting cigarettes is one of the very toughest addictions/habits to halt completely- he still needs help here.

Jason has been smoking cigarettes since he was a teenager and he has been trying so hard to quit for the past 5 years. He even took Chantix and experienced many of its worst side effects. Due to his current diagnoses of lung disease, hypertension, vascular disease, and connective tissue disease, Jason MUST quit smoking.

MEDICAL HYPNOSIS FOR SMOKING CESSATION, PAIN MANAGEMENT, PREPARATION FOR MEDICAL SURGERY AND TREATMENTS

Jason's next need is to go to Dr. Dominguez, a medical hypnosis specialist with 30+ years of experience and a Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy who is located within driving distance of the Hale’s remote offgrid residence.

Dr. Dominguez specializes in services for medical hypnosis for SMOKING CESSATION, PAIN & STRESS MANAGEMENT, Preparation for Medical Surgery and Treatments. Jason wants to work with Dr. Dominguez on all of these issues asap. His insurance does not cover this.

JASON'S MEDICAL UPDATES

Jason finally got a biopsy done on the areas of concern in his lungs. The results came back negative for cancer. That's good news! For 1 1/2 months, he had 2 doctors telling him that it was positive for 99% cancer from the blood tests! What a scare! Still, Jason's not out of the woods. His doctors confirm that Jason has serious lung disease and vascular disease caused by his 35+ years of smoking and drinking.

JASON'S UPDATES ON ANGEL FARMS

Thanks to the Angel Farms program, Jason can report the following with great gratitude:

• 60+ days sober

• down from one pack a day of cigarettes to 2-5 cigarettes per day

• drinking at least 2 quarts of plain water per day (he drank almost no still water beforehand)

• enjoying his new Angel Farms high fiber whole foods no diet including lots of vegetables, protein and healthy fats.

• maintaining his positive loving attitude and practicing total forgiveness

WHO IS JASON HALE? A Dedicated Caregiver

For the last several years, Jason has been a primary live-in caregiver for both his bedridden 83 year old father, Robert Hale, and - formerly - his late stepmother, Lisa Hamilton Weir, who had both alzheimer’s and dementia (see lady in the 1st photo w/ him). He has been paying all of his father's household bills, including the second mortgage that his parents took out. Jason has also been taking physical care of their off grid property (100% water catchment & solar power). All the while, Jason has continued to answer so many calls for help from “damsels in distress,” neighbors, family, and friends in need.

Jason Hale - a Provider, a Hard Worker, a Helping Hand, a Giver, a Good Friend

As a father raising two children (now young adults), Jason was a provider who would empty out his pockets for his family. Kind and generous to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike, Jason always lent his helping hands to others with a smile and his great sense of humor. And oh what those hands can do! Construction, carpentry, plumbing, stone masonry, welding, automotive, electrical & solar power, carving, crafts, costume making, cooking and more. Even when Jason’s helping hands became crippled with Dupuytren’s contracture, he kept on helping so many (Dupuytren’s contracture seems like the least of his issues now).

Jason says that before he goes to bed each night, he prays to God for the strength to “continue to be of service.” BTW: this humble man only told me this private detail after I asked him, “HOW DO YOU DO IT? How do you keep on going?”

Yes, Jason is the one neighbors call with a plumbing or solar emergency…the one who helped friends and family build their dream houses (he helped build his parents’ dream home when he was 20 years old)...the one who gave CPR to a man before he was airlifted to a hospital…the one who made creative & funny Halloween costumes for his children…the one on a group hike who stepped forward to save a man from severe injury during an epileptic fit…the one who loves to recycle/repurpose building materials...the one who was always trying to save his friends and client $ on their projects...the one who did odd jobs to help friends with their difficult or eccentric tenants...always showing gentle kindness to the people being served. His list of good deeds goes on and on.

His Father's Condition

Jason’s father, Robert, has recently declined further and he no longer gets out of bed to clean, feed, or toilet himself. He can no longer take his own medications dependably. The family can not afford to put Robert in a care facility, so the responsibility to care for him at home continues. Robert went temporarily into hospice "respite care" while Jason is at Angel Farms.
