Blind and Facing Homelessness – Please Help Me Stay Afloat!

Donation protected
I am blind and have been struggling to find steady work because of societal bias about my abilities. Despite my expertise in coaching and leadership, I am drowning in debt and facing the terrifying reality of losing my home and being on the streets as a blind person. I am desperate for help — if you can support me in any way, whether through work opportunities or a donation, it would mean everything. I am more than willing to offer my coaching and leadership services in return. Please, if you can help, I am asking from the bottom of my heart.

MY STORY:
My name is John Maloney, and I am reaching out for support during a difficult time.

I am a blind professional with a strong background in leadership, personal development, and coaching. I hold a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in Leadership in the 21st Century. I am also an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation and have completed my Professional Certified Coach training.

Over the past year and a half, I have struggled to find steady work, because I am blind. I have done some work through my leadership business, but it has not been enough to cover my financial obligations. My expertise includes life coaching, leadership coaching, and wellness coaching, as well as using tools like Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help people reach their full potential. I also have a passion for and a deep understanding of creating a positive organizational culture. While I am open to various types of work, opportunities have been non-existent due to my blindness and people's misconception of what I can do.

Till now, I hesitated to ask for help, but now I simply have no choice. I have done everything I can to stay afloat, but I am currently $8,000 in debt and still have a mortgage to pay. In addition to that, I had to take out two loans to cover roof and eavestrough maintenance on my home. My bank, ATB Financial, has granted me a temporary deferral for February and March, but starting in April, I must resume my mortgage payments of $1,220 per month. On top of that, my other monthly expenses, such as power, water, property taxes, phone and groceries are also mounting.

I am terrified of what will happen if I cannot make these payments. The thought of losing my home and facing homelessness is overwhelming. As a blind person, being on the streets would be incredibly dangerous, and I do not know how I would survive.

I am not asking for a handout. I am more than happy to offer my coaching and training services in return for any support you can provide. If you or someone you know could benefit from coaching, leadership training, personal development, or support in creating a positive organizational culture, I would be more than happy to work with you. When you make a donation, you can leave your contact information and let me know how I can support you in return.

That said, if you simply want to donate without receiving any services, I am more than grateful for that as well. Any support, whether large or small, will make a difference in helping me get back on my feet.

If there are things you think I can do that I have not mentioned and you need support with, please let me know. I am open to anything.

If you are able to help, I would deeply appreciate it. This is not an easy request to make, but I am asking from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can provide.

Be well,
John Maloney
