Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart, but with a fierce determination to help my parents, Tammy and James Stevens. They are both currently facing the hardest battles of their lives, and they desperately need a safe, stable place to call home while they do it.
Right now, both of my parents are fighting aggressive forms of cancer at the exact same time. My mom, Tammy, is battling stage 4 endometrial cancer. My dad, James, is fighting pancreatic cancer.
Instead of being able to rest and recover in the comfort and dignity of a true home after their grueling treatments, economic hardships have forced them into a temporary motel room. My dad still works full-time and I would like for them to stabilize so he can retire or at least have a safe, comfortable place to recover from working and from his treatments.
As anyone who has faced cancer knows, the environment you heal in matters immensely. A motel room is simply not a sustainable or sterile place for two recovering cancer patients to find the peace, rest, and safety they need.
We are trying to raise $5000 to get them out of the motel and into a permanent, secure rental home immediately.
The funds raised will go directly toward breaking down the financial barriers keeping them from moving:
$3,000 to cover the immediate move-in costs (first month’s rent and security deposits) for a rental home.
$2,000 to cover essential furniture, the required pet deposits for their beloved animals who provide them so much emotional support, and the initial utilities to get them established.
Every single dollar raised will go directly toward giving Tammy and James a foundation of safety. It will give them a door they can close, a comfortable bed to rest in after chemotherapy and radiation, and the peace of mind knowing they are secure.
If you are able to donate, please know that no amount is too small, and every single contribution brings them closer to a safe roof over their heads. If you cannot donate at this time, sharing this link with your network would mean the world to our family.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, your prayers, and your support as Tammy and James fight to heal.
With immense gratitude,
The Stevens Family
