Hi, my name is Tara Cavallaro, my husband David, 12-year-old daughter Charlotte, and I are in urgent need of help with housing and car repairs. Asking, for help, especially financial help is embarrassing but when you have a child you have to swallow your pride. The money raised will be used to secure housing and fix our only car, and back-to-school items/clothes for my daughter.
The truth is I never thought I would be in this position especially because I had a career I loved with a company and people that were more like family than co-workers for almost 15 years. Due to medical issues with my husband and mom, I had to step away from work because of the impact everything had on my time and mental state of mind.
Last year in February at 41 my husband had a massive stroke on the left side and brain surgery to remove the AVM (arteriovenous malformation) that caused the bleeding. The stroke impacted his frontal lobe, cerebellum, and brain stem. The damage left behind impacted his cognitive ability, emotional control, impaired reasoning, and overall behavior changes. All this caused increased depression, anxiety, anger, and misunderstandings. Then a couple of months ago he was hospitalized due to a seizure and diagnosed with Epilepsy. His brain is still healing and getting better but he is unable to drive or work.
After all this, my mother was in and out of the hospital last year ending with her almost dying. She was home alone and experienced massive internal bleeding causing her to fall and break her pelves and hip. She was on the floor for almost 3 days. I'll never forget what I saw when I found her. Her health issues are ongoing and will continue to get worse and she needs daily care and help.
I'm currently in the process of becoming a registered paid caregiver and will take at least two months for everything to get completed.
To top everything off we found out today that we are unable to stay with my mom any longer and need to be out by tomorrow 8/17 by 5 pm because minors are not allowed to stay in the community she lives in.
Then this past weekend the only car in my family became unsafe to drive and will cost $2000 to fix, my daughter starts middle school (6th grade) next week on Wednesday 8/23 and I have no way of getting her to school, and have been unable to get her anything for back to school. Charlotte has been amazing through all this and she is what keeps me going but it breaks my heart having her experience so much over the last year. I'm so afraid of losing her because I can't put a roof over her head or get her to school. I desperately need your help because honestly, I feel like I'm going to break soon. I've always been able to support and provide for my daughter/family and as of tomorrow we are homeless and don't have a car that works.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
