Urgent Home Repairs for My Son's Family

My Son and DIL and their 6 children just relocated for emergency medical reasons from El Paso to Indiana for work. Their home was bought on a condensed timeline due to work reporting timeliness. The house passed all certified inspections leading them to believe this was a good and sound purchase for their needs.

Less than 24 hrs after moving in, they experienced heavy rains. With their newborn daughter in Mom’s arms, they watched as water poured down the walls and 2 quarts of water drained from the ceiling HVAC register! Upon further inspection, all 4 bedrooms were affected.

This was just the beginning. Within weeks, they discovered extensive roof repairs are needed, the HVAC and furnace needed replaced, new windows to stop water intrusion, then tear out and dry out, mold remediation and rebuild are then needed. After multiple contractors surveyed the damage to the home, it was found all of these issues were undeniably pre-existing and known to the previous owner.

The damages include $8500 for new windows, $11000 for roof repairs, $12880 for new hvac and furnace, $25000 estimated tear out, mitigation and rebuild, and over $2500 for flooring repairs. On top of mounting costs to repair this home, legal fees are piling up as we try to fight for what is right and hold those accountable for the situation their family is now forced to bear.

My Son has reached out to government resources local, city and state, his congressional leadership, their loan servicer and his employer to only be told he simply does not qualify or there is nothing that can be done.

They’ve got nowhere else to turn and need help to make this right for their six children, including their newborn 3 month old daughter.
