Elderly Widow Living Alone Needs Urgent Help

Vivian Coleman Sherwood, 91, widow of entertainer Bobby Sherwood and storied publicist and talent producer for decades in Hollywood and New York retired to Santa Barbara 20 years ago. For ten years, she has been battling declining health and has now used up all her resources . On October 4th, she suffered a brain stem hemorrhagic stroke from which she is still trying to recover.

Her eyes have been badly affected.  Her doctors in Santa Barbara have advised that they can do nothing. She must go to the Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles for help. In addition to the stroke, Vivian suffers from multiple myeloma, severe lymphedema, paralyzed diaphragm, peripheral neuropathy, autonomic dysfunction and bleeding ulcers. The stroke has now also caused the loss of hearing and imbalance when she walks.

There is no direct public transportation available to LA from Santa Barbara and private transportation costs $300 roundtrip. She also needs special bandaging for her lymphedema legs, which is not covered by Medicare and costs an additional $500.

Vivian has had to cancel an appointment at the Jules Stein Eye Institute for lack of funds. She has another appointment set and is seeking help to travel there and stay for at least two days.   She has  thousands in outstanding medical bills and continuing expenses and has no one to turn to.  She is now in desperate need of funding .  Her goal is frugally set at $5,000 for the immediate medical help she needs to live.

In addition to all of this, Vivian’s beloved cat Sophia Gianna, has been diagnosed with a heart murmur and high blood pressure and needs treatment. These are further expenses Vivian will incur from here on out because Sophia is the center of her life and her only  close “relative" and daily source of love and affection.

Doctors in Los Angeles have advised Vivian to move closer to them because of the lack of medical assistance available for her condition in central California. But she cannot afford this move on her own - it would entail at least another $10,000 to cover the expense. However, the pressing medical need right now is indicated above and is extremely urgent

PLEASE help Vivian live and give her the dignity her years of service deserve.
Let’s give her story a “happy ending”.
