- A
Milly didn’t just get lost.
She was dumped on the side of Putty Road, Howes Valley starved, terrified, and in excruciating pain. Her body was failing her, and her trust in humans was already gone.
She should have died there.
But one woman refused to let that happen.
For almost a week, this incredible local rescuer showed up every single day, slowly earning Milly’s trust - feeding her, speaking softly, proving she wasn’t going to be abandoned again.
When she realised the pup was injured she knew she needed experienced help - so Milly’s Search, Trap and Reunite stepped in.
Day 1: We tried and failed. The trap door mechanism wouldn't work.
Day 2: We refused to give up. An old school method of tying a rope to the door and hiding in nearby bushes did just the trick.
And finally… the dog was safe.
But what we discovered next was devastating.
Her front right leg was shattered beyond repair. She had been living in agony.
Without hesitation, this woman - who had already given so much - paid $900 on the spot for urgent X-rays and medication. She fondly chose the name 'Milly' for this sweet girl.
Then came the reality:
Milly needed her leg amputated.
Without it, she would continue to suffer.
Without surgery, she wouldn’t survive.
Cost: $2000 (approximately)
And again… she paid it.
No fundraising. No backup. No safety net.
She used the money she had been saving for her own home - a solar setup - because in that moment, Milly’s life mattered more.
Milly is just 2 years old. A baby, really.
And despite everything - the pain, the fear, the betrayal - she chose to trust again.
Now she has a chance to live. To run. To love. To be safe.
But the person who saved her is now left carrying the entire financial weight alone.
This isn’t okay.
We cannot let the people who step up in the darkest moments be the ones who suffer for it.
She saved Milly’s life.
Now we need to show up for her.
Every dollar helps ease the burden she took on without hesitation.
If you’ve ever said “someone should help” - this is your moment.
Donate if you can.
Share if you can’t.
But please - don’t scroll past Milly like she was left on the side of that road.
She survived because someone cared. Let’s prove that more people do. ❤️
