We brought home Barrett a couple of weeks ago, full of hope and excitement. He was a beautiful, sweet, goofy English Bulldog puppy — the kind of puppy you instantly fall in love with. We imagined him growing with our family, being part of our lives, and yes… we hoped to include him in our small, carefully run breeding program one day.

But that dream shattered almost as soon as he arrived.

Within hours, we knew something was terribly wrong. Barrett struggled to walk. He bumped into things. He growled when we lifted him. We brought him to the vet, praying it was something simple.

It wasn’t.

Barrett has a serious L3–L4 spinal subluxation — a painful condition.

Our vet is also deeply concerned about a possible central brain lesion, which could be contributing to his neurological symptoms.

Hearing that was devastating. He is only four months old, and he’s already facing more pain and uncertainty than most dogs experience in a lifetime.

We reached out to the breeder who sold him to us, but we were met with refusal to pay his medical bills, deflection, and zero responsibility. We have been left completely on our own — with a puppy we love who desperately needs medical care as his condition is rapidly declining. Barrett is losing his vision now and it is devastating. This is him today after eating. He could hear me but wasn’t able to see/find me.

We are now facing:

• Emergency neurology appointments

• Advanced imaging (MRI/CT of both spine and brain)

• Pain management

• Possible surgery

• Additional neurological testing

These costs are overwhelming, but Barrett deserves a chance. He is not “just a dog” and certainly not a “business investment.” He is a baby we love deeply — a puppy who trusts us to fight for him.

We are humbly asking for support to save his life and give him the comfort and care he deserves.

This is not something we ever imagined doing. As responsible breeders, we take pride in being prepared and self-sufficient. But this situation was caused by someone else’s dishonesty, and the financial burden has become more than we can carry alone.

No amount is too small.
