Title: Help Build a 7th Grade Science Lab — Real Experiments, Real Learning, Real Impact
________________________________________
Campaign Description:
We’re transforming a 7th grade classroom into a working science lab by August 3rd — and we need your help to do it.
The Groundwork Project is a bold, hands-on, research-based life science program that gives middle school students the opportunity to learn science by doing it. Instead of memorizing vocabulary or watching demonstrations, students will grow bacteria, extract DNA, analyze samples, study cells under a microscope, and investigate disease processes in a fully equipped classroom lab.
We’re raising $4,690 to purchase essential lab equipment and supplies including microscopes, staining kits, petri dishes, lab coats, gloves, fixatives, and more. These tools will be used all year long by students conducting real experiments and completing original research projects tied to their community and environment.

What Will Students Learn?
The Groundwork Project brings life science to life through real-world application. Students will explore:
• Molecular Biology — understanding DNA, cells, and how our bodies function
• Environmental Science — testing materials from their homes, food, and neighborhoods
• Plant and Microbial Biology — studying living organisms and how they impact food, health, and ecosystems
• Human Body Systems Through Disease — not just naming organs, but understanding how illness affects them
• Cytology — preparing and staining slides to study human, plant, and microbial cells under the microscope
They’ll also develop essential lab skills used in real-world biology, environmental science, and public health:
• Sterile sample preparation
• Slide staining and coverslipping
• Microscopy and cell identification
• DNA extraction and solution preparation
• Sample testing and data analysis
They’ll document findings, work in teams, and complete a student-led research project that applies everything they’ve learned to a real-world question.

Training Tomorrow’s Scientists — Starting Today
The Groundwork Project doesn’t just prepare students for high school science it builds career-ready lab skills and opens doors to future opportunities in:
• Environmental testing
• Food safety and microbiology
• Agriculture and plant science
• Medical and clinical labs
• Cytology and health diagnostics
Students will learn to think like scientists asking questions, running experiments, and using tools that many students don’t experience until college. This isn’t science “practice.” This is the real thing.
We’re not just teaching science. We’re training tomorrow’s scientists.
