Last night at approximately 7:30 PM, my fiancé and I were involved in a car accident while attempting to go home after work. We were hit on our driver's side by someone who swerved around stopped traffic and sped right into us. We have sustained minor injuries ( I have a concussion and we are both experiencing bruising ) and our car is totaled.

UPDATE 10/04

We have paid the impound company for towing from the accident to their yard using the money raised so far from the fundraiser. Due to the speed they were going when they hit us, our radiator was smashed into the engine and the frame is destroyed. The damage to our car was too extensive to salvage it so we have surrendered the car, which means we will ( thankfully ) at least not need to pay the additional $250 we were originally quoted to have it towed from the yard to our home.

However, we will need to replace the car. The person who hit us did not have insurance and now that the car is unsalvageable we are in a rough situation. It is our only form of transportation to be able to work and occasionally my parents need it for transportation as well. From here on, the funds gained from this fundraiser will be put towards replacing the car. If I can find something for less, I will use the additional funding for the new car registration, transfer of plates, and to help my mom cover bills from work she’s missing as a result of this.

UPDATE 10/19

Unfortunately, my news isn't very positive. We have just been informed that we were told incorrectly and the person who hit us does have insurance. However, due to issues with our own insurance we will not be able to have our car replaced either way. My family needs another car to be able to work. We are struggling to make ends meet and had to use the money so far for bills my mom is missing out on.

Any help is greatly appreciated, words of support and thoughts are as well.

UPDATE 11/09

My family is really struggling now. We are nearly behind on bills and barely able to keep up with food, plus my mom hasn't been able to work since the accident. We really need to get the car replaced, as my income and my dad's alone isn't enough. So far, we've been using the money raised to keep afloat with bills and food.

However, a glimmer of hope has shown up recently, my older brother may have found a cheaper vehicle for us to use. If we get the money soon, most of our issues might finally be over. All of your help has greatly been appreciated so far. We can get through this with your support :)
