Help Me Say Goodbye to My Closest Friend

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support. My closest friend, Dan, has passed away yesterday. For over 40 years, Dan wasn’t just my best friend—he was like a brother to me. We grew up together, shared countless laughs and tears, and walked through life side by side. We shared everything but DNA.

Now that he’s gone, I feel it’s my duty to be there to say goodbye and honor his life. His funeral is next week, and time is limited. I need to raise $1,000 quickly to cover the travel and expenses that will allow me to be there. I am on the other side of the country, so the commute to Orlando is not a small one.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will help me make the journey to pay my final respects to the person who meant the world to me. Your support would mean more than words can express during this difficult time.

Long story short, I am living nearly paycheck to paycheck. And simply don't have the funds to do this. My job offers no bereavement or vacation time. I hate to ask, but I need to at least try to make it there. If I can't make it, I can't make it. But I will hate myself if I don't at least give it my best effort. If I do not make the goal, and am unable to go, everything will be refunded to you. The expenses are basically a flight, a hotel for a night or two, and the cost of a rental car, or Uber. Likely will be uber as I won't be doing anything but attending the services and then flying home. Any unused funds will go to a charity of Dan's wife's choosing.
