Since 2013, the Hobart Festival of Women Writers has welcomed over seventy women writers to Hobart, New York, for an annual three-day event to recognize women writers and artists and their work. These diverse and talented professional women writers have presented workshops, readings, art exhibits, and panel discussions. The readings, art exhibits, and panel discussions have been free and open to the public. We have included and welcomed all readers, writers, and lovers of language to Hobart Book Village, the Reading Capitol of New York State.
I will be direct. The Hobart Festival of Women Writers is urgently appealing for your monetary support. That's it. We want to ask you to please support this year's Festival by contributing to our 2025 Fundraising Campaign. Unfortunately, we have not received funds from some of the organizations that have supported us in the past. So, there is a real sense of urgency. We are determined and committed to holding Festival 2025 on June 6, 7 & 8.
In this climate of uncertainty and outright hostility toward programs that celebrate and amplify women's work, we are creating a space for the work of women writers. This fundraiser is a call to arms, but not in a military sense. It's more like arms linking, shoulder to shoulder, to support the people and programs that make us feel connected and hopeful. We are facing a headwind, but we are not ready to quit.
Please note that the Hobart Festival of Women Writers is administered by a group of volunteers committed to creating a supportive space for women writers. We offer a modest honorarium to all of our Participating Writers because we feel that it is equitable to do so. Please help us to continue.
We are asking you to contribute what you can to help us.
