Hello everyone,

My name is Andrea, and I’m reaching out for help for my beloved 5-year-old English Cocker Spaniel, Antonia.

A few days ago, Antonia started showing signs of a urinary tract issue — frequent small urinations and blood in her urine. We thought it was a simple bladder infection (cystitis), but tests revealed something much more serious: she has two kidney stones in her ureters (the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder). One stone is almost in the bladder, but the second one is on the other side and has caused an infection (E. coli) and pus in the kidney.

Antonia is currently in the ICU at a veterinary emergency hospital in Toronto. She is receiving IV fluids, antibiotics, oxygen, a urinary catheter, and nutritional support through a feeding tube because she has stopped eating and is very weak. The veterinarians are evaluating whether to place a ureteral stent to help the stones pass and protect her kidneys. If the stones do not move on their own, she will need surgery.

The total estimated cost for her ICU stay, procedures, possible stent placement, surgery, medications, and follow-up care is over $20,000 CAD. Our pet insurance will only cover a limited portion, and we have already spent a significant amount on initial visits, and tests.

Antonia is a sweet, happy, and loving girl who has been our faithful companion. She deserves every chance to recover fully and continue enjoying her life with us, and our community.
