Hi! I am Alexis (on BlueSky at alexis bzky team) - a disabled queer woman, from Southern California. Having grown up here for nearly my entire life, I didn't imagine not only having ever having to flee - risking homelessness, facing asaault, and the potential risk to my rights. Not only to my legal recognition and respect from my own government, and simply from others.

Within the last few months, I faced my first hate crime as a trans woman - while sleeping, no less; a mix of rubbing alcohol and other mystery chemicals were thrown onto my face, and into my eyes. The presumptive attacker denies it, and I have yet to be able to be free of this living situation.

I can no longer justify the risk of staying here to be with family, and my partner in Australia have promised to assist me in the process of transitioning to there by the time I am capable of leaving - if I can get there.

Adding to this complication - my disability, a literal set of cracks in my skull, lands me in the hospital, with tonic-clonic seizures, every few months, even on medication. Beyond that, I have sensory auras (another type of seizure, not usually severe enough to hospitalize me) quite consistently, often resigning me to being bedridden - all of this complicating efforts to maintain, or even simply acquire employment, so some of the funds raised here will go to living expenses in the time it would take to leave, and, if there is any left over, for living expenses once I arrive, as the savings I have are almost entirely comprised of the donations from this fundraiser.

This fundraiser is aiming to provide me not only the costs of the travel, life costs during this time for me and my family, but also the lengthy process for passport application. I hope that you all can help me raise this soon - as my physical home situation is unsafe and unpredictable, as well as the U.S. itself on the whole.
