Hi everyone,
We are the Saleh family, and we’re reaching out to you with heavy hearts, desperately seeking your help to rescue our loved ones from the dire situation in Gaza. Our family of 12, including our elderly parents, siblings, and their young children, was trapped under siege in the dangerous North of Gaza, in Al Nasser—an area that is now heavily impacted by the war.
The war, which has been ongoing since October 7, 2023, continues to devastate our family under a brutal blockade, making life unbearably difficult. Our familiy is currently still in North Gaza, struggling with severe shortage of food, medical supplies and basic necessities. The humanitarian situation is dire and every day is a fight for survival.
We urgently need your support to help them escape these unbearable conditions. Any assistance, no matter how small, can make a huge difference.
Thank you for standing with us in this critical time.
1. Who is our family?
Our mom Siham, at 61 years old, is dealing with high blood pressure, worsened by stress and living conditions. Our dad Haitham (63) is doing everything he can to protect the family but faces impossible challenges. Our brother Mohammed (36), with his wife Ghada (33) and their four children, Hossam (15), Haitham (16), Siham (3) and newborn Adam (5 months). Our sisters Siwar (21) and Sammar (28), along with her husband Karim (32) and their two children, Massa (4) and Rawda (6).
Our sister Sammar, diagnosed with neck cancer just a few months before the war started, had life-saving surgery. But now, due to the lack of medical care resulting from the conflict, she can't access necessary doctor appointments, and her condition has worsened. The absence of medical care in our current situation in Gaza has left us feeling helpless.
2. Traumatizing events and updates
On the night of October 21st at 4 AM, our family experienced a nightmare when their already devastated living room was bombed by airstrikes. Fortunately, they managed to seek shelter in time, and miraculously, the rocket that hit their home did not explode. The danger of the unexploded rocket, still present in their living room, forced them to abandon their home. They sought refuge in Shifa Hospital, only to be forced to flee again when the hospital itself became a target of airstrikes. Since then, they have been on the run, moving from one place to another with no personal belongings, no food, and no proper clothing.
Then, six months after October 7th, another tragedy struck. Our father and brother were alone in what was left of our house when another airstrike completely destroyed it, trapping them under the rubble. They were eventually pulled out with injuries, narrowly surviving yet another brutal attack.
This is my father and brother stuck in the rubble.
It has been challenging days, months and years since October 7th, and our family has been stranded in the North of Gaza without any assistance. With the ongoing blockade, humanitarian aid is almost nonexistent, and they are struggling every single day just to stay alive.
In the midst of all this, we suffered an irreplaceable loss.. our uncle was shot and killed while praying in his tent. He was targeted by a sniper and did not survive.
My sister's husband went to check up on their home.. It's demolished and there's nothing left, leaving their family of 4 homeless..
3. What is our goal?
Fleeing Gaza has become an impossible task. The borders remain closed and no one is being allowed out. Right now, as I'm writing this, our family is fleeing once again, to the South of Gaza. They received notice that the last roof over their heads will be bombed, leaving them no choice but to leave immediately, carrying what little belongings they have left in order to survive.
This journey itself is extemely dangerous: the road to the south of Gaza is currently under siege and bombed constantly. Just reaching the south costs between $3,000 and $4,000 for transportation alone.
Once there, they will need to:
- buy tents for shelter (another $4,000)
- build basic sanitation
- secure minimal food and clean water to survive
Food prices in Gaza are unimaginabely high, one tomato can cost up to $10. Feeding 12 people, especially growing children who are already malnourished, is nearly impossible. The children are starving, deprived of the nutrition they so desperately need to grow and stay healthy.
We urgently need your help to cover these massive expenses and secure their survival. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps them survive this forced displacement and brings them closer to safety.
Your support and generosity mean the world to us. We are eternally grateful for any help you can provide during this time of desperation.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Saleh family
Hi, I am Adham, the creator of this GoFundMe and I'm currently residing in Belgium after having fled Gaza a few years ago and seeking refuge. I am heartbroken over the situation and the pain my family endures every day. Hearing their cries as they struggle through this terrible time is devastating.
The only goal we can have at this moment is to help them survive each day, to afford tents, food, clean water and the most basic necessities while they are being displaced again and again under bombing.
Our options are very limited, but your support can truly make the difference between starvation and survival. We are forever grateful to anyone who keeps us in their prayers or is able to help in any way.
