Urgent! Help Nestor Recover; Heart Surgery

Donation protected
My name is Urgyen, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my good friend, Nestor L. Perez Jr.

Nestor has always been someone who built meaningful connections around the world. Now now, he needs our support.

He has been hospitalized since having a mitral valve placement heart surgery on Friday, March 28, 2025 at UCSF in San Francisco, California after a life-threatening medical crisis and other chronic health conditions to be addressed further thereafter.

I’m stepping in to help because he and his wife, Mylene r.a.d. Leng Leng needs assistance.

100% of the funds raised will go directly to Nestor to help with his recovery.

He is fully aware of this fundraiser, and I will collaborate with his spouse, Mylene r.a.d. Leng Leng to provide updates on his behalf.

A Personal Message from Nestor

“I did not expect to be in this position, but I’m beyond grateful for Urgyen in promptly stepping up to help. My doctors have told me that my recovery will take weeks. If you can contribute, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If not, I’d be just as grateful if you could share this fundraiser. Your support means the world to me.”

The Emergency That Nearly Took His Life

On 3/15/2025, Nestor was taken to ER at Oakland’s Highland Hospital as his heart rate was over 160 beats per minute and treated for urgent cardiac and other chronic health issues.

What Happens Now?

Grateful for great UCSF specialists in San Francisco, California, Nestor continues to undergo multiple EKGs, CT scans, MRI’s and other specialized tests. Despite all this, UCSF Cardiac Team successfully did surgery to treat the severe heart stenosis on Friday March 28, 2025, with surgical procedures: aortic and mitral valve replacement (MIMVR) using a porcine valve, along with the MAZE procedure to treat his atrial fibrillation.

Doctors say recovery as an in-patient will be ~1 week in the hospital (ICU and in the cardiovascular step-down unit).

While that’s a step forward, his chronic health condition remains fragile, and recovery will take months depending on Nestor’s progress with physical therapy and healing. The chronic pseudogout syndrome is a lifetime process and can be debilitatingly painful.

Doctors have advised to live stress-free✨❤️:
• He cannot work or drive for a few weeks/months
• At the time being, He cannot fly or travel due to the risk of blood clots
• He will need continued medical care and physical therapy

Nestor’s savings have been fully exhausted.

Family Challenges & Ongoing Responsibilities

Nestor’s 99 year old father concurrently is hospitalized for covid and another sibling will undergo a similar heart surgery next week. Nestor’s wife, Mylene r.a.d. Leng Leng, a former Public Health Nurse but that work and pay halted after the 12/26/2017 car accident that led to a double mild traumatic brain injury (tbi).
Btw, she recently had eye surgery 2.5 weeks ago and continues to have multiple post-tbi maintenance care and depend on disability resources and Nestor’s financial help.

They both require care, transportation to therapy, and ongoing medical support—none of which are fully covered by his recently acquired Emergency Medi-Cal insurance.

As a result, Nestor’s family is emotionally and financially maxed out and unable to take on the additional expenses required for Nestor’s recovery.

How Your Support Will Help

We are raising $25,000 to help Nestor cover the essential costs of recovery, including:

• ✔ Hire part-time Helpers. For example, this past winter, they recently moved to their new apartment and still need assistance sorting/unpacking boxed items. This would truly help for ease and comfort at home.
• ✔ medical costs
• ✔ Physical therapy, medications, and medical equipment
• ✔ Living expenses i.e. ~3-4 months’ rent while he is unable to work
• ✔ Transportation cost to appointments, therapy sessions and wellness care
• ✔ Food and daily necessities

Nestor has always been someone who lifts others up—now it’s our turn to lift him up.

No amount is too small.
Whether it’s $1, $5, $10,$25, $50, or more— every donation helps. With deep gratitude, they receive your continued prayers and well wishes..
