Urgent Help Needed: Typhoon Relief for Rinconada

My name is Melanie, but people from Rinconada call me Chazen or Chaz. Rinconada is not just a place to me—it’s where my roots are deeply embedded. Growing up in the community, I’ve seen the strength and resilience of the people, and now, in the wake of the devastating typhoon, I feel a strong call to give back and support them during this crisis.

The recent typhoon has caused unimaginable destruction in the area. Homes have been swept away, streets are flooded, and many families have lost not only their possessions but also their means of survival. These heartbreaking updates from home remind me of my own childhood experiences, when I witnessed the struggles that natural disasters could bring, but also the incredible unity that emerges in times of need.

I was already scheduled to go back to Rinconada for a family event, and I now realize that this is the perfect time to step up and help. What was meant to be a simple reunion has now turned into a mission to deliver aid directly to those in need. I’m not just going back to reconnect with loved ones—I’m going back to work alongside my friends and neighbors to provide support where it’s most needed. This “helping reunion” is a cause close to my heart, and I’m committed to making a difference.
