Hi, I am Melissa Sanchez. I work full-time as a paraeducator for disabled students. For the past few years, I have taken on a part-time job to support myself, my disabled adult child at home and our adopted cat. Sadly even with both jobs, I haven't had the funds to afford a vital repair our home needs.
Last Friday, I received devastating news. I received a letter informing me that if I do not replace my old and worn-down roof (which is in a poor state due to my abusive ex-husband neglecting it and spending the loans he took out on other things that left me in a sea of debt), I will no longer qualify for my house insurance, and I will therefore have my home foreclosed. The replacement needs to be done before January 2023.
My original plan was to try to repair my house over time and sell it and try to start fresh with the profit of the sale, but now that doesn’t seem possible at all. My family doesn't have space to house us, and if I rent, the little savings I have saved up will be gone in a few months. I am currently working two jobs to help support my disabled adult child with medical conditions that do not let them live a “normal” life, let alone be able to work a job to help me with income. I am absolutely petrified from not knowing what I will do.
I am starting a crowdfund for any support to help us fund the roof replacement or at least help us build a bigger rent budget to buy us time to figure things out if we have to move out somewhere. Please, anything helps. Even just circulating this post so others may see it and support if they are able. Thank you for taking the time to read this, everyone.
