This is Rhubarb, our beautiful 1 year old labradoodle. He is such a bundle of joy and full of so much love. We are a family of four, myself (Katie), Adrian and our two boys, Fisher, who is 8, and Leon, who is 6. We got Rhubarb at 8 weeks old when he made our family whole again after losing our previous family dog. I cannot express how much we love him! He is a goofy gentle giant and everyone he meets adores him.
Rhubarb at 4 months
Unfortunately, last Saturday Rhubarb started to get unwell, vomiting every 20 minutes or so. He then deteriorated at an alarming rate and by the early hours of Sunday morning he was bleeding profusely. We rushed him into the Queen mother veterinary hospital where he is currently in intensive care from what appears to be a life-threatening case of Haemorrhagic gastroenteritis.
Since Sunday, he has received around-the-clock care, three blood transfusions, and consistent IV fluids. He is now stable, but it will take some time for his internal organs to recover from the massive loss of fluids that he is experiencing. Sadly, we are now facing the awful prospect of not being able to afford the continued care he needs. The Queen mother hospital are doing an amazing job, but it costs around £1000 a day to give him the time he needs to recover.
If you are able to donate we would appreciate it beyond words. Just sharing this fundraiser with friends and family would also help so much. Thank you for reading our story.
