Urgent Help Needed to Save Our Sweet Cody

Cody’s update 8/5/25

Cody has now had his CT scan , they have removed his lymph node and they also found a very large abscess on his jaw join which they will be treating with antibiotics- he is staying in over night to have his first lot of anti biotic and pain relief and will hopefully be discharged tomorrow. They have said he should make a full recovery. So once again a massive thank you! Our boy is going to be ok thanks to all of your generosity and support.

Cody’s Update 7/5/25

Cody has an appointment tomorrow morning at 9:30am at Davies Vets. He’ll be seen by the surgeon and will undergo a CT scan and if all goes to plan, he’ll have his operation the same day.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, along with a contribution from us, we’ve managed to raise the 50% deposit (£3,000) needed to secure the surgery. The remaining £3,000 will be paid in monthly instalments over the next three months, and we’ll be exploring further options to support this.

Quick update: We’ve spoken to Davies Vets, and once they receive the referral (On Tuesday), they’ll be able to see Cody this coming week. They’ve quoted £2,500 for the CT scan and £4,000–£6,000 for the operation. They’ll need £3,000 upfront next week, in addition to the £3,000 covered by insurance. The remaining balance can then be paid over three monthly instalments.

I’ve adjusted the fundraising target to £6,000 to reflect this.

We're writing this with aching hearts. Our little boy Cody, a 5-year-old Chihuahua who means the world to us, is seriously unwell and we’re desperately trying to save him.

Just a few days ago, Cody started showing signs of pain in what we thought was his jaw. We took him to the emergency vets right away, and they gave him strong painkillers to keep him comfortable. We booked him in for further tests under sedation, hoping for something minor… but today we were given devastating news.

Cody has a large lymph node that needs urgent removal due to him not being able to eat and the swelling getting bigger and will start effecting his respiratory system, and before surgery, he’ll need a CT scan to assess the extent of the issue. The vets estimate the total cost for everything will be around £10,000.

Our insurance only covers up to £3,000, and we’ve already spent £1,000 of our own money just to get him this far. The costs are mounting fast, and we simply don’t have the funds to give Cody the life-saving care he needs. That’s why we’re asking with open hearts for your help.

Right now, Cody is at home with us on strong pain medication. He’s unable to chew properly, so we’re hand-feeding him gentle dog soup just to keep him nourished. The vets offered to hospitalise him for tube feeding and hydration, but the additional cost would have been another £8,000, which we just couldn’t afford.

Cody is more than a pet he’s family. He’s been by our side every single day, bringing love, laughter, and comfort. Watching him struggle is absolutely heartbreaking, and the thought of losing him simply because we can’t afford his care is unbearable.
