My name is Jenn. My husband Chuck and my daughter Lilly are facing homelessness. I lost my job last year due to funding. I was an advocate for the past almost 8 years, working at a non-profit helping people with self-sufficiency and being a life coach. My husband was a welder who then got hurt so badly on the job while working under a car. He's now had three surgeries and has 6 screws in his neck. We've been able to pay the bills and rent up until these last 3 months. We've lived here for 10 years. The landlord is a good man, but he also pays on the house and stated if we don't come up with the past 3 months' rent, he'll have to evict us and stated the eviction papers are in the mail. I'm an advocate; I know who to call to get assistance, so I've called them ALL, including my old job. I've called churches, I've called family friends. I've applied for state assistance, Salvation Army, True North, United Way, homeless solutions—all of them. I keep getting the same answer: You've been denied help. Please help us!! I've already sold all my jewelry, my collections, and I'll keep selling it all as long as we have our home. Our rent is $685 a month. We now owe this month too. My husband just started at Pizza Hut full-time. He'll be paid weekly, but he's not going to make enough in time to make these past due payments by the 1st. How ironic is it that for years I've helped others find housing, find assistance, and now here I am finding no help. Please, ANYONE... PLEASE help us. I don't want to go homeless with my daughter.
