Urgent help needed to save 3 year old Sophie

Hello everyone,

i am trying to help a very close friend of mine get some potential life saving help for her beautiful strong 3 year old daughter Sophie.

unfortunately Sophie has severe obstructive sleep apnea , something mum Ashley has been fighting hard to be looked into since Sophie was born, every doctors appointment was useless Ashley being repeatedly told Sophie had a virus (for over 12 months)

eventually at 2 years old Ashley was finally taken seriously about the worries she had for Sophie

I wish I could write the family felt relieved but unfortunately things have just gone from bad to worse since Sophie’s Referal to her paediatrician.

amongst other things Sophie has been diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea this makes it extremely hard for Sophie to breath both in the day and night her little body fights for every breath and to physically see her struggle is horrific

Sophie’s oxygen levels drop as low as 68% during the night,levels that low unfortunately give Sophie the risk of death every time she goes to sleep with her body being in respiratory distress every night due to her drastic oxygen levels (unbelievably Sophie has been discharged from a&e four times only last week with the discharge notes stating “respiratory distress and breathlessness” this little girl is clearly deteriorating infront of her parents eyes, she is already only developing as a 12-18 month would be and currently has moderate hearing loss in both ears needing hearing aids. She is still waiting for an echocardiogram to check if this is affecting her heart also.

As you can imagine Sophie’s parents are in a living nightmare and the added pressure of fighting for Sophie to get the help she needs is just too much. Although her paediatrician has stated Sophie needs oxygen at night to survive and despite her being clinically urgent Sophie is yet to receive any plan or help for this more than 3 months down the line (urgent is no longer than 1 month) she has no oxygen and no date for a procedure she needs to check her airways

the severe risks for Sophie are:

brain damage

death

Heart failure

the longer this goes on the more risks there are for Sophie this shouldn’t be happening and could be avoided

Sophie’s parents have exauhsted every route they physically can and still no answers and no help from anyone including the health security

there local mp

PALS

they have even contacted the PM

I am asking for any donations for Sophie to be seen privately by a sleep apnea specialist. With little hope from the nhs I fear if Sophie isn’t given a treatment plan immediately it could be too late

we cannot sit back and accept these failings any longer Sophie should have her whole life ahead of her she is a happy little soul despite all the huge hurdles she is faced with everyday just to simply breath

we cannot let Sophie’s story turn into another investigation of a long list of failings made via the nhs
