On September 4th, our family’s world shifted when my mom had a serious accident at our apartment pool. She slipped and landed on a pool lounge chair, causing her tibia to completely snap. Because of a previous injury, doctors at Medical City Plano had to remove old pins and plates and carefully insert a rod through the top of her tibia, just above the knee, to stabilize the bone and support her leg. They also repaired several smaller breaks in her leg, making this a complex and delicate procedure.

During recovery, her heart rate spiked to nearly 190 beats per minute multiple times, requiring doctors to reset it to protect her heart. She spent over a week in the cardiac ICU and then another week and a half in inpatient therapy before finally coming home today (Sept. 25th). Through it all, she showed incredible strength and determination, and we are so grateful she is still here with us. We have faith that brighter days are ahead.

Alongside her own recovery, my mom also cares for her sister, who lives with her and is on disability. My aunt needs a knee replacement and struggles to walk and can not drive, so much of the support she normally receives from my mom will now fall on my fiancé and me while Mom heals. This makes it even more critical that their home is stable, bills are covered, and transportation for medical appointments and groceries is secured.

We’ve reached out to local churches and community programs for help, but haven’t received the support needed. That’s why we are humbly turning to friends, family, and our wider community to ask for help during this time.

Right now, our most urgent need is $3,200 for rent due in just four days, so my mom and aunt can remain in their home. Beyond that, we are raising $25,000 to cover 6 months of rent, utilities, food, transportation to medical appointments, and recovery needs. This support will allow my mom and aunt to focus on healing without the constant stress of falling behind.

My mom is one of the most caring and resilient people I know. She has always been there for others, and now she and my aunt need their community to stand with them. Every donation, every share, and every prayer helps lift them up and brings them one step closer to full recovery and stability.
