Hello compassionate friends and generous hearts,
I am reaching out to you during a dire situation that has turned the Pineo Family’s lives upside down. My dear friends, Danielle, Doug, their two young children, Roman and Aspen, along with their beloved dog, Kimber, are facing an emergency that requires immediate action and support from loved ones and our community. Their family has recently discovered that their rental home is uninhabitable due to standing water under the home that’s caused toxic mold, jeopardizing their health, safety, and well-being. Their rental home had unattended water damage due to neglect from the property owner, that then led to this poisonous living environment. Their landlord and renter’s insurance company have given this family an uphill battle with no support or answers. The damage caused to their health and safety is of grave concern and the reason for asking for help.
The Crisis:
Danielle, Doug, and their children are currently residing in a hotel room, as they urgently search for a temporary, furnished housing solution. They are working towards purchasing a home but won’t qualify for several months, and the need to for help is immediate. The mold in their rental home has led to severe health complications, especially for Danielle and Aspen, who are severely allergic to the mold. Under doctor's orders, they had to vacate their home immediately, leaving behind all their belongings contaminated by mycotoxin spores in porous materials. They have been displaced since Wednesday, March 6th, 2024.
Health Impact:
The exposure to mold has taken a toll on the family’s health over the last few years, especially Danielle and Aspen. They have had several health concerns, hospitalizations, and symptoms including respiratory struggles, neurological issues, abdominal pain, body rash and a loss of strength, to list a few. Moving their salvageable belongings has become an extremely challenging task, further exacerbating the family's already stressful situation. They will also have to come to terms with losing most of their sentimental belongings.
The Urgent Needs:
Your support can make a significant difference in this family's journey to safety and recovery. Donations will be utilized for:
1. Temporary Living Situation: Funding will help secure a safe and comfortable temporary housing arrangement for Danielle, Doug, their young children, and Kimber.
2. Replacing Belongings: Contributions will go towards replacing essential items, from clothing to furniture to food, that had to be left behind due to mold contamination.
3. Mold Remediation: Professional mold cleaners will need to be hired to try to salvage any sentimental items and ensure a safe transition for the family.
4. Professional Movers: Due to Danielle's health condition and Doug’s demanding 70-hour week work schedule, professional movers are needed to handle the physically demanding task of relocating their belongings.
5. Medical Bills: Support is required to cover the medical expenses incurred due to the family’s health complications and ongoing treatment, as well as future recovery and therapy.
6. Vet Bills: Kimber, the family dog, has also been affected by the mold. Donations will assist in covering vet bills and ensuring Kimber's well-being.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will be a lifeline for this family as they navigate through this challenging time. Your kindness and generosity will provide them with the support needed to rebuild their lives, find solace in a temporary living situation, find a permanent home, and regain their health.
Thank you for opening your hearts to this family in need. Together, we can make a positive impact and help them overcome this crisis.
