Hi my name is Katrina and I am creating this "go fund me page" to help with the medical care needed for my husband Lonnie's medical bills. As some you may know, my husband Lonnie is a diabetic. He had been seeing a doctor for this and had been religiously keeping up with his medication and care. About 2 months ago, Lonnie had noticed what looked like bruising on his foot and a horrible pain that indicated something was very wrong. We went to the doctor at least 4 times only to be told "not to worry". At the next appointment my husband went to at the ortho foot specialist we told to "go straight to the emergency room". We arrived Pineville emergency room and the Vascular surgeon told us that, "we may have to amputate his leg below the knee, it looks really bad". The Vascular surgeon ordered a series of scans which showed multiple blood clots. Surgery was performed to clear three blood clots in the leg, two arteries were cleared but the artery that was responsible for blood flowing back to the heart could not be cleared and as a result the tissue on Lonnie's foot was beginning to die. The decision amputate the left leg was now inevitable. The vascular surgeon who had taken over Lonnie's care had stated "if the original doctor had done their job the leg could have been saved." Lonnie's leg was amputated on September 21, 2021. On the 12th of October 2021; Lonnie's employer notified him that he was no longer employed due to the fact they could not wait for him to get better to come back to work.
I am creating this "go fund me page" due to the fact that we are experiencing financial difficulty due to the fact that Lonnie has lost his job and medical insurance. If you are able to assist us in any way that would be a blessing. Thank you! Sending love Lonnie & Katrina
