Urgent Help Needed: Life-Saving Dialysis
Donation protected
Hello everyone, I am reaching out today because I am in desperate need of your help. As many of you know, I have been in a long-term medical battle since catching COVID in 2021, leading to my heart failing and my kidneys beginning to shut down. I have been holding on, and I even moved states from Colorado down to South Carolina to be with my mom as I tried to recover. I now have ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease), which means the failure of my kidneys has officially gone into stage 5. Because I am heavier, I was removed from the transplant list, so I have no choice but to do dialysis a minimum of 3 times a week for 5 hours a day for the rest of my life.
Through the ups and downs, I've tried to keep working and hold my head up high, but I am no longer able to keep up with work, so I had to leave my job when I went to the hospital for my latest surgery. As a result, I lost my insurance that was provided by my job and have been working to get set up with assistance from Social Security and Medicaid. I learned about the American Kidney Fund from the social worker at my dialysis clinic, and they are going to help me pay for COBRA so I can keep my insurance, but they won't be able to start until next quarter in August.
I am asking for help to cover the out-of-pocket costs to pay for dialysis this current quarter through the end of July. Anything you can do would be helpful and would literally help to pay for the treatments I need to stay alive. Everyone who helps, I will be personally hand-writing a thank you letter with my contact information if you'd like to stay in touch. Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this message and help me out today.
