Edit and the biggest thank you from the bottom of our hearts:
Thank you so much to everyone who’s donated or shared, we hit our initial £600 target, and we’re honestly so grateful. I’ve almost fell off the sofa more than once and I’ve cried my eyes out more than once, I don’t think I can even describe how grateful we are. That goal was the minimum we needed to get things moving, but the full cost of Ozzy’s surgery is going to be more, for both legs it is over £1000. A lot of you have encouraged us to raise the target to make sure he gets everything he needs — so we have. Please don’t feel any pressure at all, but if you’d still like to help or share, it truly means the world to us and our wee Ozzy
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with an urgent plea for help for my beautiful 11-month-old puppy, Ozzy.
Ozzy came to me from Romania after surviving horrific abuse and neglect. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he’d been through more than any dog ever should. He flinched at every sudden movement, cowered at the sight of hands, and panicked when left alone. Healing him has been a journey—one filled with tears, small victories, and unconditional love.
Over time, Ozzy began to trust. He learned what safety feels like. He started playing, bonding with my other dog, and showing signs of the joyful pup he was meant to be. He has overcome worms, a severe case of oral papillomavirus (which left his mouth covered in sores), and severe anxiety.
But now, Ozzy is facing his biggest challenge yet: advanced hip dysplasia in both hips.
From the start, I noticed something wasn’t quite right. Ozzy struggled to jump, cried at the top of the stairs, and hesitated to go to the toilet because of the pain. It took multiple vet visits and a lot of persistence, but we finally got the diagnosis: he’s been living in chronic pain since birth. His hips are so damaged that surgery is now the only way to give him a chance at a pain-free life.
Ozzy’s surgery is scheduled for June 27th, and we are desperately trying to raise £600 part of the total needed to make it happen.
Breakdown:
Surgery costs £719
Medication costs (up too) £150
First rehab physio session £40
This is the lowest cost we’ve been able to find—previous quotes were as high as £10,000–£12,000. The rescue that brought him over has already contributed all they were able to raise, which thankfully covered his X-rays (£800+), but now we're at a standstill.
Due to this standstill, we are at a loss with what to do and without this surgery, Ozzy will continue to live everyday in pain, and the longer this continues the more I feel like I am failing him.
I hate asking for help, but I have to try—for him. He has fought so hard to come this far, and I want nothing more than to give him the happy, healthy life he deserves.
If you can contribute anything at all, it will make a difference. Even just sharing Ozzy’s story can help us reach someone who might be able to give.
Thank you so much for reading, for caring, and for giving Ozzy a chance to run, play, and live without pain.
With all my heart,
AJ
