Urgent Help Needed for Wall-E's Recovery

Donation protected
Well I really was hoping to not have to do this but here I am surrendering to ask for help. For my beloved Wall-E boy. (If you’re interested in the full medical details of his story I’ll share that at the bottom.) For straight to the point details I’d like to be transparent to where the funds raised from this will go to: his immediate care in the form of medication; any possible, unplanned trips to the ER if he starts to decline & thus other diagnostics or procedures to save his life; & / hospice care if it comes to it. (I can’t say the e word so please bear with me.) Outside of Wall-E’s absolutely pertinent immediate care any residual funds will humbly go to me and my sister so we can continue to keep a roof over our heads, pay our bills, eat and help him heal. At this time he is needing 24/7 supervision to monitor his breathing. I’m so grateful and lucky to have a younger sister like Caitlyn that helps so dang much in raising and taking care of Wall-E. We’ve lived together the last several years and he is as much her baby as he is mine. That being said her and I have to take shifts to watch and care for Wall-E and it’s unknown at this moment how long this level of care is something he will need. The likely unknowns at the moment are: her and I having to take off work from our already pay check to paycheck careers, if he will turn a corner for better in the coming days or if it will be weeks or if the opposite happens. No matter the outcome we are both giving it all we have to keep this guy safe, comfortable & in our highest hopes healing.

About Walter: Wall-E is a very special 9 year old dog. I know us pet people all feel that way about our animals but ANYONE who has met walle over the years has been changed for the better by meeting him. I’m not saying this soley out of bias but echoing what has been shared with me as his mother by others. From next door neighbors to old roommates. From old co-workers to every vet he’s ever had. Anyone that’s known Wall-E falls in love with him. He’s one of those rare ones with a soul beyond dog. And he’s the best friend that words just can’t do justice. He’s sat in countless healing sessions back when I took 1:1 reiki sessions in my studio, he’s come to work with me at the salon, he’s moved to home after home with me around San Diego and then even all the way up to Portland. His favorite thing outside of people is to sunbathe on the cement (with food coming a close second). We share the same birthday and I believe the same heart. I met him at the ‘Cupid’s + Canine’s’ adoption event on Valentines Day weekend with his Aunty Steph 8 years ago. I was sure I was getting a wiener dog but the second we stepped foot in the parking lot I saw him and KNEW that was my dude.

I know 9 is considered senior I’d like to name that but I just really feel like he’s fighting and not ready to go yet. This came out of nowhere and really feel in my heart he has at least year if not years left. Should there be any reason we get funds that exceed expectations or go beyond what my sister and I humbly need to stay afloat or to pay for his care please know that I would stay in integrity and share any residual funds to someone else in need. (person/dog or donation organization. tbd if it comes to that).

The medical details and breakdown of why our $ goal is the amount it is.

The last 2 days of being in the ER have tapped out all resources. We’re already at about $4000 on credit and don’t have any more access to extend that limit or any residual funds. He will need additional care in the form of chest X-rays about (as late as next week, if not sooner) to check to see if his procedure from yesterday took. He has something called Pneumothorax. He has a large bullae on his lung that was leaking air. We chose the best possible option we could in the timing we had to make the decision. The hospital we went to had a criticalist on staff that was able to perform the specific procedure he had done last night (3/19/25) they took donation plasma to inject into the chest cavity to essentially go in and patch the hole form where his lung was leaking. The data supports this having an 80-90% success rate. However there is chance that this could come back and we could be in this position again. It could be a week, a month a year or longer. It’s unknown so hence also the reason for this.

The next possible step should he go back to a critical state would be to do another chest tap (take out excess air where it doesn’t belong), do the same procedure that was done last night expect this time with chest tubes and overnight hospitalization. This would be several thousand more dollars.

The remaining option would be to do a CT scan to pinpoint the exact hole/point that’s leaking and then do an invasive surgery to remove the bullae. Which means removing tissue from his lung. I do not know if this would be possible yet. In a “perfect” world let’s say it is: this step would be $13k-$21k and the only option that 100% gets rid of this leaking bubble (bullae) from his lung/“fixing” this.

rough costs breakdown:
$528 helps me cover his upcoming chest xray recheck

$350 helps me cover any possible additional chest taps to remove excess air and help lung from another collapse

$1,000-$8,000 would help me cover possible next step option a of doing another round of plasma or blood transfusions but this time with chest tubes and over night hospitalization
$13,000-$21,000 would help me cover the cost of bullae removal surgery

additional uncalculated costs would be a month of mine and my sisters rent, utilities & food in the absence of work in order to care for Wall-E. Any surplus of funds would be donated should that happen. From the bottom of my achey breaky heart, thank you for reading, sharing &/ donating. ❤️
