Urgent Help Needed for The Rodgers Family

Hi everyone,

This page is on behalf of my friend Kenny and his wife Donna, to share the story of their son Little Kenny, who is currently in critical condition and facing a long and uncertain medical journey. This road has been and will continue to be dire and expensive. Support from anyone who can help lighten the load for their family is greatly appreciated.

Last month, Little Kenny was admitted to the ICU in Scottsdale, Arizona after coughing up blood. Before this, Kenny seemed the picture of health. Within a matter of days, he was placed on full life support. Doctors discovered a tumor in the medial cavity between his lungs and heart that has been pressing against major blood vessels

Due to the repetitive bleeding and healing, scar tissue has formed and blocked blood flow to Kenny’s right lung. His left lung is working to compensate, but there have been complications that have prolonged the healing process. Surgery to biopsy the tumor is incredibly risky due to its location and the size of the blood vessels involved, and Kenny needs to be healthy enough before it can be considered.

Thanks to the help of Angel Flight, Kenny was flown to the UW Medical Center in Seattle, where he is now being treated by a new team of specialists. The transfer went smoothly, and he is now resting and stable. He recently underwent a tracheotomy, which helped significantly — he has moments of awareness, and while he can’t talk yet, his parents say he looks better and stronger.

Through all of this, Kenny Sr. and Donna have remained by their son’s side. They’ve been sending daily updates to close friends and family, doing their best to stay strong through the whirlwind. Now they’re also facing the difficult task of managing Kenny’s life back in Arizona — his apartment, belongings, and car — all while navigating the challenges and costs that come with long-term ICU care far from home.
