Skyla Bartmanovich, who just turned 19 on April 20th, is in the fight for her life against Stage III Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This struggle comes during a period of profound grief, as she just lost her grandmother to cancer at age 66 this month.
Skyla is battling a perfect storm of medical needs and financial setbacks:
• Uncovered Medication: She requires vital medication after each chemotherapy session that costs $400 per treatment, entirely out-of-pocket.
• A Future on Hold: To preserve her dream of having a family one day, she must urgently complete egg harvesting by December which will cost between $8,000 and $10,000 plus storage fees, as her chemotherapy will likely cause infertility.
• Safety Risk: Skyla will become severely immuno-compromised, she cannot use public transit, making essential hospital travel expensive and frequent.
• No Safety Net: Skyla is unable to work because of her cancer and subsequent treatment. She is currently ineligible for AISH (Alberta financial support) and has no timeline for accessing Social assistance leaving her with zero income to cover basic living costs.
Our Goal is $30,000. This funding will immediately cover the fertility preservation, the uncovered medication, safe transportation, and basic living expenses, allowing Skyla to focus entirely on her recovery.
Please donate and share Skyla’s story. Let’s help her fight for her future.
Thank you.
