Urgent Help Needed for Rafaella's Treatment

Hello Everyone,

I'm Joao Augusto, and for 15 years, I dedicated my life to the ophthalmic industry. A lot of you may remember me from the field. Today, my wife, Luciana, and I are sharing our story, our dream, and our hope with you. I'm reaching out as a father facing a tough challenge. As a Christian family, we believe in faith and compassion, values that can unite us all.

Mission:

Our mission is personal and urgent. Our beloved daughter, Rafaella, has been diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), a rare and rather serious genetic condition. Plexiform neurofibromas, benign tumors that were present from birth and sort of dormant, have started to advance and grow, causing discomfort and jeopardizing her dreams. The complexity of NF1 means there's a 10-15% chance of these tumors turning malignant. Rafaella may require multiple surgeries due to their quantity, size and location.

Treatment:

Our guiding stars in this journey are the Mayo Clinic and the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughter in the USA. These renowned medical centers offer life-changing treatment. Rafaella's condition necessitates specialized surgery due to the size and location of her tumors. This is why we've made the difficult decision to seek expertise in these reference centers.

Campaign:

We invite you to join our journey of hope. Every contribution, regardless of its size, plays a vital role in our mission. Our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover essential expenses, ensure mobility, and provide stable accommodation. Our friends in the US have generously offered initial accommodation, but Rafaella's treatment is long, and we intend to rent a place for ourselves.

The funds raised will be used exclusively to facilitate Rafaella's treatment. This includes covering essential expenses, ensuring mobility, and providing stable accommodation. We've already secured air tickets in a last effort to get there.
