Hi everyone, I've never set up a fundraiser before, but I’m a college student trying to raise funds to help save my cat, Kip.
Kip is a little over 1 year old. I found her as a stray when I was still in high school, and she’s been my rock ever since. When I left for college, I wasn’t able to bring her with me, so my older brother has been fostering her until I can get a place of my own and bring her home where she belongs.
During my last visit home for spring break, I had a feeling something was a little off with her, but I never imagined how serious it would become.
I asked my brother to keep a close eye on her, and things quickly escalated. Over the next few days, her condition got worse. She began hiding in her litter box, slowly stopped eating, and would only take treats until even that stopped. She started doing unusual things like licking the carpet and concrete outside and at one point we even suspected she was licking the litter.
This past Friday, she was taken to the vet, where we received devastating news. Kip is severely anemic, with her blood levels around 7% (when the normal low is around 15–18%), and they said she was going septic.
The vet told us she would need immediate stabilization and a blood transfusion to survive. Unfortunately, they did not have cat blood available, and finding a donor (possibly more than one) is complicated and expensive. At that moment, all we could afford was the emergency visit and blood work just to understand what was happening.
We were faced with heartbreaking decisions, including possibly having to consider euthanasia because of the cost and her condition.
The vet prescribed an antibiotic (Orbax) to help fight the infection, which alone cost nearly $100. So far, the total for her emergency visit and testing has been about $482, which we’ve had to put on a payment plan.
As soon as I heard how serious things were, I bought the earliest bus ticket I could and traveled overnight to be with her. I arrived around 3 AM, just hoping I would make it in time to see her and be there for her.
Since being here, Kip has slowly started showing small signs of improvement, and that gives me hope that she still has a chance if we can continue her care.
Kip is still fighting, and I’m not ready to give up on her.
I’m asking for help to cover:
- Emergency vet costs so far
- Medications
- A follow-up vet visit to monitor her condition
- Potential life-saving treatments if she continues to improve
- Travel expenses so I can be here with her during this time
Our goal is $650 to help cover these urgent and upcoming costs.
Anything helps—even $1 or simply sharing this fundraiser means the world to me.
Kip came into my life when she needed help, and now she needs it again. I just want to give her the chance she deserves.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any support you can give.
