A Testament to God's Faithfulness
Imagine a life of selfless service, fully dedicated to caring for others. Now, my mother, Mrs. Ganiat Balogun, a veteran nurse and retired healthcare professional, needs every possible help. After overcoming cancer and other health related challenges resulting in seven previous surgeries, my mother visited me in Canada, seeking rest and creating memories. Unexpectedly, she developed severe symptoms (fever, constant vomiting, weakness, nausea and loss of appetite) that led us to the emergency room and after several investigations, the doctors found a retained surgical item in her body from a previous procedure months ago. This resulted in acute internal damage and led to an emergency surgery requiring hospitalization in Canada.
The medical bills are piling up. The doctors have said her road to recovery is a slow one; and unfortunately, the insurance company is uncertain about covering the costs, citing a pre-existing unstable condition. Nevertheless, the insurance has also expired on the 8th of Nov, which automatically means there is no insurance coverage from the 8th regardless of a new policy, and she is currently still on admission in the hospital.
This is where we are now with the bills currently and still rising:
- Emergency room admission == $8,921
- Surgery/Attending surgeons fees == $6,427+
- Current Hospital stay (50 days spent with an estimate of 60 days) == $260,000 +
- Special IV nutrition, other diagnostics and services == $75,000 +
- Estimate of Post-discharge Care == $30,000
- Estimated Gross Total == $380,000
