My name is Mervat, and I currently live in Belgium, but my heart and soul are with my mother and sister in Gaza. My mother, Nadieh , and my 20-year-old sister live completely alone in a house that has been completely destroyed by the war. The roof is full of bomb holes, the walls are burned, and every corner of the house reminds them of the constant danger surrounding them.
There is not enough food, and prices in the markets are astronomical. My mother cannot work, and there is no one to help her. She tries to clean the house with just water because she cannot afford cleaning supplies, and she tries to protect the house with the few remaining resources to shield herself and my sister from the wind, rain, and freezing cold.
I am reaching out today to appeal to everyone in the world—men and women alike—who understand how difficult it is for a woman to survive alone in such harsh conditions, to extend a helping hand. We are not asking for luxury, only the most basic necessities: flour, lentils, beans, and some cleaning supplies, so they can live safely and with dignity.
Every dollar you donate will go directly to my mother’s account at Bank of Palestine, and she will use it to buy the daily essentials she needs to survive and protect her home. I will follow up and provide updates to every donor to ensure full transparency.
Every passing day, my mother and sister feel the increasing danger and need. Every contribution, no matter how small, can save a life and give hope to a woman struggling alone to survive.
Please, help us provide safety and dignity to my mother and sister in the midst of this harsh reality.
From the bottom of my heart,
Mervat
