It started as a clogged artery in her leg. They went in and unclogged it. Then, one day after they unclogged it, she was walking around and for some reason, the veins busted open and started bleeding from her leg really bad. She lost over two pints of blood, so we got her to the emergency room. They stopped the bleeding and sent her back home. She started to get an infection where she had the artery unclogged, so we took her back in. We ended up needing to get an amputation but just weren't sure if it would be above the knee or below the knee. So, we got sent to San Antonio where we sat for about 5 days before a doctor went in to see my mom, only because I started speaking up and asking what was going on and why we were sitting there without seeing a doctor. We found out her kidneys are failing and she needs dialysis. So, we got the dialysis going and she got the amputation above the knee. Then, we were held hostage in the hospital for another two to three days while they were just pumping her with drugs. Then one day, she wakes up and cries to me that she's tired of taking the medicine and she wants to wake up. I reached out to the house supervisor to see if they could help me, and they told me there's nothing they can do for me. So, I signed her out AMA and brought her back to Corpus. Within 3 hours, we had a kidney doctor, we had dialysis scheduled, and we were back home. All this has been happening for the past 2 months.

I am her provider, and being that she's been in the hospital, I haven't been able to work. My stepdad has had to miss a lot of work because she was in San Antonio in the hospital, so we fell behind on bills. We're behind on her car payment, we're short on the rent, light, and water, but we paid what we could. Not only that, we still need gas to move around and to be able to eat until my mom gets back home and I can start working as her provider again.
